Malaysia Airlines’ cargo arm and Azerbaijan’s Silk Way Airlines have signed a deal to cooperate on mutual freight network development.
The memorandum of cooperation will see the airlines collaborate on ground handling and line maintenance. Both carriers will also gain access to each other’s capacity throughout their global networks, based on existing sharing and block space agreements.
Mohd Yunus Idris, CEO of MASkargo, said the arrangement would enhance his company’s presence in the CIS region, while Silk would benefit from great access to intra-Asia markets.
“Based on the combination of flights from MASkargo and Silk Way Airlines, both parties will combine their efforts to promote Baku and Kuala Lumpur as a transit point and a regional hub,” he added.
