Trans-Atlantic eastbound and westbound rates remained flat this week, according to the latest release of the World Container Index.
World Container Index Rates Between New York and Rotterdam
Rates from New York to Rotterdam slipped $1, or 0.05 percent, per 40 foot container to $2,028 per 40-foot-equivalent unit. The week before, the index had dropped $15, or 0.7 percent. The eastbound index is 4.5 percent higher than it was at the beginning of 2013 and 4.8 percent higher than it was at this point in 2012.
Rates from Rotterdam to New York remained flat at $2,393 per FEU for the third week. The westbound index has fallen 2 percent since the beginning of 2013 but still is 9.2 percent higher than it was at this point in 2012.
