Peel Ports in the U.K. has invested in a larger vessel for its Manchester Ship Canal container service.
The Coastal Deniz has a 260 20-foot-equivalent unit capacity, which is a more than 60 percent increase in capacity compared with the previous vessel used.
The vessel will make up to four sailings a week between the Port of Liverpool’s Seaforth container terminal in England and Irlam Container Terminal near Trafford Park in Manchester, England. The service also makes calls en route at Ellesmere Port in Cheshire, England.
“The Deniz will move in the region of 20,000 containers in 2013,” said Stephen Carr, head of business development at Peel Ports, in a written statement.
