Seaboard Marine has received 340 new 40-foot refrigerated high-cube containers, and is set to receive 334 more 40-foot reefers in February, in preparation for the peak perishables season.
The reefers, which will be used throughout the ocean carrier’s network, are being delivered in Santo Tomas, Guatemala.
The company also added 430 new reefers in October 2012 and 520 similar units in late 2011, said Edward Gonzalez, Seaboard Marine’s president, in a written statement.
Container manufacturer MCI built the 1,724 steel containers over the last 18 months. Each container has a capacity of 2,398 cubic feet.
