Belgium's Antwerp Port Authority and the Panama Canal Authority have reconfirmed their collaboration agreement to promote trade between the port and the west coast of South America via the Panama Canal.
After a positive evaluation of the first agreement, made in 2010, the new agreement will run for a period of five years, after which it can be further renewed. The original deal covered, among other things, joint marketing initiatives, the exchange of market studies and the setting up of training programs. Information was also exchanged on the handling of large vessels.
The renewed collaboration deal was signed by Jorge L. Quijano, administrator for the Panama Canal Authority; Eddy Bruyninckx, APA’s CEO; and Marc Van Peel, APA’s chairman.
