International Airlines Group, the merged British Airways-Iberia carrier, reported 506 million metric ton kilometers of cargo in December 2012, a 4.0 percent decrease year-over-year.
Iberia handled 110 million metric ton kilometers of cargo in December, dropping 10.6 percent from last year, while British Airways handled 396 million metric ton kilometers of cargo in December, falling 2.0 percent year-over-year.
For the year, IAG reported 6.1 billion metric ton kilometers, a decline of 1.2 percent compared to 2011.
Cargo revenue metric ton kilometers in December decreased 0.6 percent year-over-year. From January to December, cargo revenue metric ton kilometers increased 3.0 percent compared with last year.
With regard to cargo, the carrier’s load factor was down 0.8 points in December, at 73.4 percent, and flat from January to December, at 73.9 percent.
