Evergreen Line, “K” Line, Dubai-based Simatech Shipping and South Korea’s STX Pan Ocean expanded their joint intra-Asia liner service by adding a direct call at Laem Chabang, Thailand.
The four ocean carriers operate the CIX2/CISC service with five vessels, ranging in capacity from 3,400 to 4,400 20-foot-equivalent units.
A “K” Line vessel, the Alexandria Bridge, initiated the upgraded service, departing from Laem Chabang on Nov. 22.
The enhanced port rotation is Xingang and Qingdao, China; Laem Chabang, Thailand; Singapore; Tanjung Pelepas and Port Kelang, Malaysia; Nhava Sheva (Jawaharlal Nehru), India; Colombo, Sri Lanka; Port Kelang; Tanjung Pelepas; Singapore; and Xingang.
The joint service offers an 11-day transit from Laem Chabang to Nhava Sheva, India’s largest container port.
The consortium’s move is designed to cater to the growing trade demand within the intra-Asia region.
