Brazilian terminal operator and maritime logistics Wilson Sons reported profit in the third quarter of $16.9 million, an increase from last year’s net loss of $6.1 million in the third quarter.
Profit in the first nine months of 2012 was $18.8 million, falling 31.2 percent year-over-year from $27.3 million.
Quarterly revenue was $157.5 million, down 13.6 percent from $182.3 million in the third quarter of 2011. Revenue from January to September was $468.6 million, a decrease of 10.1 percent from $521.2 million during the same period last year.
Container terminal revenue was $49.9 million in the third quarter and $140.0 million year-to-date, down 8.5 percent and 10.3 percent respectively, negatively affected by devaluation of the Brazilian currency, the company said.
