The International Refrigerated Transportation Association named Paul Kramer, director of logistics at Sheboygan, Wis.-based Johnsonville Sausage, as the recipient of the 2012 IRTA Executive of the Year award.
The award was announced as part of the Food Logistics Forum in June, an event co-sponsored by the American Frozen Food Institute and the Global Cold Chain Alliance. IRTA is a Core Partner of the Global Cold Chain Alliance, which represents all major industries engaged in temperature-controlled logistics.
The annual award recognizes a person in the refrigerated transportation industry who has made a significant contribution to the industry by fostering innovation, resolving industry issues
or improving the industry’s image and efficiency.
Kramer was recognized for integrating Johnsonville’s dedicated truck fleet with carriers tapped by 3PL partners. IRTA officials said the combination reduces empty miles and generates revenue by putting freight owned by other companies on Johnsonville trucks.
A Johnsonville Sausage employee for eight years, Kramer previously spent 16 years with Heinz and two years with a warehousing company. Kramer serves as vice president on the Food Shippers of America’s board.
