A section of a Norfolk Southern Railway train hauling ethanol on Wednesday morning derailed in Columbus, Ohio, sparking a fiery blast that forced the evacuation of about 100 people, according to reports.
Investigators are looking into the cause of the derailment of roughly 11 cars of the train bound to Chicago from North Carolina, according to the Associated Press. Two two people who were injured drove themselves to nearby hospitals.
"I saw flames, then I heard a loud sound, like a boom, and saw the flames shooting higher," witness Joel Priester told the AP. “It’s sound like the sun exploded.”
