DHL Supply Chain has opened a new multi-user warehouse in Indonesia to meet thriving demand for logistics services from the technology sector.
GDP growth in Indonesia is expected to surpass 6 percent again in 2012, and this strong performance is boosting the logistics industry, which is expected to grow by more than 14 percent to $153 billion this year, according to analysts Frost & Sullivan.
DHL said the 56,000 sq ft facility, located in Cililitan, East Jakarta, would reduce costs and speed deliveries for high-tech customers.
“Indonesia’s technology industry is set to grow following last year’s announcement by the government of plans to develop the high tech electronics industry,” said Abdul Rahim Tahir, Managing Director DHL Supply Chain Indonesia.
Korean 3PL Pantos Logistics recently announced its own expansion in Indonesia to serve its distribution network within the country.
