Food logistics giant Martin-Brower is acquiring the distribution assets of Keystone Foods, adding distribution centers in the U.S., Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
The acquisition will help Martin-Brower bolster distribution service to its core customer, McDonald’s. The transaction is expected to close by the end of the year.
McDonald’s is expanding in overseas markets, adding a restaurant a day in China. Keystone is owned by Marfrig Alimentos of Brazil, while Rosemont, Ill.-based Martin-Brower is owned by drinks and food distributor Reyes Holdings.
The deal gives Martin-Brower, already McDonald’s largest distributor in North America, Latin America and Ireland, greater global supply chain reach.
The transaction includes five U.S. distribution centers, 10 DCs in Europe, nine facilities across the Asia-Pacific region and four DCs in the Middle East. Integrating those facilities into its network “ensures consistent service and brand stewardship for McDonald's global operations,” Martin-Brower said.
