Rising freight demand is spilling across borders, sending spot market truck freight volume in Canada up 35 percent year-over-year in March, said TransCore.
Load posts on TransCore's U.S. freight-matching network increased 42 percent in March from February, and were up 61 percent from March 2010, the company said.
TransCore's Canadian Freight Index last month broke a record for growth set in May 2008. Load volume was up 250 percent from March 2009, the company said.
The volume moved on TransCore's Canadian freight-matching service, Loadlink, also increased 36 percent from February, underscoring strong sequential growth.
Although the number of loads posted reached an all-time high, truck postings remained at low levels. Spot capacity was down 24 percent from a year ago.
