Cargolux is in talks about the sale of a stake to a strategic investor amid reports Qatar Airways wants to acquire a minority shareholding in the European all-cargo carrier.
The Luxembourg-based airline confirmed discussions are on-going with several parties that are interested in acquiring a stake.
Qatar Airways is reported to be close to agreeing to the purchase of a 33 percent stake worth around $215 million.
The Middle East airline said last month it is seeking acquisitions and has been expanding its cargo and freighter network. The carrier recently ordered three 777 freighters.
Cargolux swung to a $59.8 million profit in 2010 from a $153.3 million loss in 2009 to end three straight years in the red.
The carrier, which boosted revenue 29.3 percent to $1.75 billion and carried 683,380 tons of cargo, expects to take delivery this year of the first 747-8 freighter of 13 it has ordered.
