New customers and higher shipping volume pushed total revenue to $426.4 million at Echo Global Logistics in 2010, a 64.3 percent increase over the previous year.
The Chicago-based third-party logistics provider and freight broker raised its net income for the year from $5.2 million to $8.4 million, a 61.8 percent increase.
For the fourth quarter, total revenue jumped 42.2 percent to $113.8 million, but net income fell 16.7 percent to $2.6 million, the company said.
Fourth-quarter earnings comparisons included a $2.1 million tax gain in the last quarter of 2009. Without that gain, quarterly net income climbed year-over-year.
Total shipment volume increased 43 percent in the fourth quarter of 2010 compared to the year-ago quarter. For the full year, shipments were up 61 percent.
The company's net revenue, less transportation costs, rose 41.5 percent in the fourth quarter and 45.8 percent for the year to $81.2 million in 2010.
