TRAC Intermodal extended its web-based TRAC Connect program to the South Atlantic. The program, which rents chassis to truckers by the day for use at multiple terminals, will be added to several other regions this year.
The company said TRAC Connect will be provided to the South Atlantic Chassis Pool for motor carriers serving CMA CGM, which recently said it would quit providing chassis to motor carriers as part of its U.S. operations. Several other carriers have made similar moves.
With the addition of the South Atlantic, TRAC Connect operates in New York-New Jersey, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Buffalo, Savannah, Charleston, Jacksonville, Atlanta, Charlotte, Mobile, Tampa, Los Angeles and Oakland. TRAC Connect also will operate in Houston and Dallas starting Jan. 17; Chicago, the Ohio Valley and other Midwest points starting in February; additional West Coast cities in March and Norfolk this summer.
TRAC Connect customers can use rented chassis for multiple moves within multiple terminals. Motor carriers servicing CMA CGM shipments with TRAC Intermodal chassis must have an interchange agreement in place with the company before the rollout dates for the various cities.
TRAC Intermodal is the largest provider of marine and domestic chassis. The company has approximately 245,000 chassis and containers.
