APL Logistics hired two veteran intermodal experts to strengthen its inland transport capabilities.
The company named Jerry Plummer, formerly of CH Robinson, as its new head of business development for Highway Services and appointed Mike Deegan of Schneider National as general manager of the unit.
The company said it hired the two executives to help it gear up for growth in U.S. intermodal transport of containerized cargo and highway truckload shipments.
Plummer will lead APL Logistics’ sales effort in Highway Services. He will also have overall commercial responsibility for Land Transport services in the Pacific Northwest. Those services include both truck and rail cargo transportation. Plummer is an industry veteran who worked for the Western Pacific Railroad and RISS Intermodal before joining CH Robinson.
Deegan will manage APL Logistics’ highway motor carriers and oversee Highway Services operations. He previously worked for APL Logistics before joining Schneider National.
Plummer will be based at APL Logistics’ Americas Headquarters in Phoenix. Deegan will be based in Chicago.
