The company, located near Lynchburg, Va., had 75 employees, according to local news reports, which said other carriers were already recruiting from FWC.
By The Numbers: Cass Freight Index.
Wayne Casalenuovo founded the company in 1980, just as federal trucking deregulation created opportunities for a nascent truckload industry.
Casalenuovo was not immediately available for comment.
The company had a fleet of 60 tractors and 210 trailers delivering dry and refrigerated goods throughout the U.S., its Web site said.
