APM Terminals sold a 25 percent stake in its Zeebrugge, Belgium, container terminal to Shanghai International Port Group under an agreement finalized May 28.
Shanghai International paid $33.7 million for the stake in the terminal, which opened in 2006 with annual capacity of 850,000 TEUs. APM retains a 75 percent stake as well as operational control of the multi-user terminal, which handled 700,000 TEUs last year.
APM Terminals, an independent unit of Denmark’s A.P. Moller-Maersk, and Shanghai International also are partners in the 4 million-TEU Shanghai East Container Terminal at the Port of Shanghai, with APM holding a 49 percent stake.
