Cargo moving through Frankfurt-Hahn Airport surged in November to an all-time record for the 15-year-old facility 120 kilometers to the west of Frankfurt International.
The low-cost airport owned by the state of Rhineland-Palatinate broke previous records in October with 16,698 tonnes of cargo. November’s total of 21,660 tonnes beat that by 30 percent and climbed 36 percent above November 2008.
"After getting a very good result for October, an increase of 30 percent is excellent," said Hendrik Hering, economics minister for the state. "The good start to the Christmas season and the outstanding capacities of the Air Cargo Germany airline based at Frankfurt-Hahn Airport are considerable factors behind this new record.”
