A 707 freighter crashed Wednesday shortly after takeoff from Sharjah Airport in the United Arab Emirates. All six crew members are dead.
The plane may have lost parts before losing altitude. In clear weather, it veered to the right and hit the ground, bursting into flame at approximately 3:30 p.m. local time, according to news reports.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze within two hours after the crash and recovered the bodies of the crew and the flight data recorders. The airport was closed for approximately two hours after the crash.
The plane was operated by Azza Transport on behalf of Sudan Airways from Sharjah to Khartoum.
