South Korean carriers Hanjin Shipping and Hyundai Merchant Marine said Monday they will exchange slots on two of their trans-Pacific services starting in October.
Hanjin will be taking slots on Hyundai’s SZX (Suez Express) and Hyundai on Hanjin’s AWN (All Water North Atlantic).
With this slot exchange, Hanjin Shipping will be able to expand its presence in the trade between Singapore and Colombo and the U.S. East Coast while Hyundai will gain additional space in the trade between Shanghai and Busan and the U.S. East Coast.
Hanjin Shipping said it is also continuing to cooperate with other domestic and overseas carriers to develop various routes.
Hanjin’s AWN (All Water North Atlantic) Service deploys eight vessels with a capacity of 4,300 20-foot equivalent units each on the following port rotation: Kaohsiung, Kantian, and Shanghai, Bussan, Panama, New York, Norfolk, Savannah, Panama and back to Kaohsiung.
Hyundai’s SZX (Suez Express) Service deploys eight 4,000-TEU ships on the following rotation: Singapore, Colombo, Suez, New York, Charleston, Savannah, Norfolk, Suez, Jebel Ali and back to Singapore.
