A conductor on a Union Pacific train died Wednesday evening in a collision with a tractor-trailer east of Denver. The truck driver suffered "minor to moderate" injuries, according to the Colorado Highway Patrol.
At an unlit intersection in Adams County, at approximately 7 p.m., the truck driven by 47-year-old Wendell Cox of Bedford Heights, Ohio, struck a slow moving UP train consisting of a locomotive and three railcars. The conductor, who was riding on the rear of the third railcar, died at the scene. Police did not release the name of the 33-year-old Denver-area man. Cox was taken to a Thornton hospital.
