The average price for a gallon of diesel fuel fell another 6.2 cents to $4.059 this week, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
As pressure eases in the crude oil market, retail prices keep dropping. West Texas intermediate crude oil for October delivery closed Friday down $1.66 at $106.23 per barrel. That was a difference of more than $9 per barrel in the past week.
The West Coast had the highest regional average price at $4.156 per gallon, even after falling 9.2 cents, the biggest drop in the country. But prices on the other side of the country in New England fell only 4.7 cents to stay at an average of $4.312 per gallon. Diesel at $4.018 per gallon in the Lower Atlantic sub-region pulled the East Coast average down to $4.10 per gallon.
