Menlo Worldwide Logistics on Tuesday said an expanded relationship with Kettle Foods will include the management of a new, dedicated 105,000-square-foot warehouse in Beloit. Wis.
Menlo, the San Mateo, Calif., logistics subsidiary of Con-way, previously provided warehouse management for Kettle, the Salem, Ore., natural snack foods company, at a multi-client facility in Illinois.
The new warehouse is 50 percent larger than the previous one, Menlo said. It opened early this month near Kettle's Beloit manufacturing plant.
The facility is Menlo's first logistics operation in Wisconsin. It is providing the staff, systems and equipment for the new facility, where activities include receiving, storage, inventory management and outbound distribution.
Menlo said the food-grade warehouse "is operating under the Lean philosophy of waste elimination and continuous improvement followed at Menlo facilities worldwide." Food-grade certification requires meeting American Institute of Baking standards for protection of the safety of the food supply chain.
The relationship with Kettle began last year at Menlo's multi-client facility in Aurora, Ill.
