Evergreen Line announced that it has agreed to cooperate with Cambridge University and the National Central University in Taiwan on the Pacific Greenhouse Gases Measurement project.
The carrier said the project combines data from satellites and aircraft into a Global Observing System by the European Commission to build a three-dimensional model of distribution of greenhouse gases over the Pacific.
"This data will be extremely valuable for scientists now estimating the total emissions of greenhouse emissions in the Pacific region and represents one of the key contributions from Taiwan in the context of global warming and climate change," the company said.
Evergreen is planning to assist in gathering data on Europe-Asia and Asia- Australia routes. Installation of instruments on P- and S-type vessels will take place in late 2008.
