Derek Woodward will succeed Ken Torok as chief of Asia Pacific operations for UPS April 1.
The Atlanta-based carrier said Torok will retire this spring.
Woodward, 45, is a Canadian native who joined UPS in 1985 as a part-time package sorter and later worked as a driver. Seventeen of his 23 years in the transportation and logistics industry have been spent working outside North America for UPS in marketing, business development and sales positions. He moved to Singapore in 2007 to serve as a senior vice president to Torok, responsible for all staff functions for the Asia Pacific region.
Woodward reports to Dan Brutto, president of UPS International.
Torok, who joined UPS in 1975, had overseen more than 40 countries in Asia Pacific since 2003. Prior to that move, he served as the South Florida District manager in the United States.
