NYK Line (North America) announced the promotion of Peter Keller to president and corporate officer on the Japanese carrier's board, effective April 1.
Keller is currently executive vice president and chief operating officer of NYK Line (North America).
"Mr. Keller's appointment to the NYK Board signals the evolution of NYK from a traditional Japanese shipping company towards a global integrated logistics group", said Saburo "Sam" Yamagata, chairman of NYK Line (North America), president and chief executive of NYK Group Americas Inc., and chairman of NYK Logistics (Americas), Inc..
Keller's promotion was one of a number of management changes announced Friday.
Yamagata will take over as chairman of Crystal Cruises Inc. and relocate to Los Angeles.
Replacing Yamagata in all capacities will be Tetsuichi "Tony" Nozaki, currently managing director of NYK Line (Hong Kong). He will relocate to New Jersey.
Kenji Mizushima, president and chief executive of NYK Line (North America) will return to Japan as general manager of the container trade management group and has been appointed a corporate officer.
Other personnel changes, also effective April 1, include:
Yasushi Orito is being promoted from general manager of strategic marketing and trade management to executive vice president of NYK Line (North America).
Yukihiro Tatara, executive vice president of the western area, will be assigned as general manager of the management coordination group in Tokyo.
Kiyoshi "Karl" Sato, currently president of NYK Line (Canada) and vice president of Japan sales in North America, will relocate to Japan with Tokyo Senpaku Kaisha Ltd. (TSK Line).
Kazumi Komazaki will succeed Sato as vice president of Japan sales and president of NYK Line (Canada).
