The People's Republic of China authorized Schneider National to operate as the first North American truckload carrier and logistics service provider for companies doing business inside the country.
Schneider Logistics (Tianjin) will offer domestic transportation, logistics services including warehousing, cross-docking and third-party logistics and related services. The new subsidiary opened an office in the Tianjin Economic Technological Development area to encourage development in the BinHai region of northern China, which is home to many foreign companies in China.
"We're working it from the inside out - a much different approach than when we first set our sights on the Chinese market more than five years ago," said Martin Winchell, managing director at Schneider Logistics China. "After spending the last few years conducting primary research and development in China, we see the tremendous opportunity that lies in providing services to the domestic market as the economy grows and the disposable income of the average Chinese citizen is enhanced."
Schneider will also link its new domestic business in China to a new international logistics service offering now under development.
