International Lease Finance, a Los Angeles-based aircraft leasing firm, switched an order for five Airbus A380 cargo planes to the passenger version, according to news reports. ILFC also deferred delivery of the aircraft to 2013 and beyond. ILFC had ordered 10 A380s in all.
The latest fallout in the A380 market follows the FedEx decision to cancel its orders and a decision by Emirates to convert its small A380 freighter order to passenger planes.
UPS still is considering the future of its a380 freighter orders. But industry observers say the air cargo version becomes less viable as orders decline.
