UPS and the U.S. Postal Service are planning to make a major announcement on Wednesday.
UPS has long been angling for more Postal Service business, particularly in the air, where rival FedEx has had a major postal contract since 2001. Passenger airlines complained bitterly when that contract was inked, saying they lost significant volume and revenue they used to be able to count on from the Postal Service.
Wednesday's announcement at the Postal Service's Washington, D.C., headquarters will come from Postmaster General John Potter and UPS CEO Mike Eskew.
