Intershipping Terminal Services to Become First Site in Venezuela to Implement Tideworks Best-of-Breed Solutions
Tideworks Technology(R) Inc, the leading provider of full-service terminal management and planning software solutions for terminal operators, today announced an agreement with Intershipping Terminal Services, C.A. (ITS) to provide terminal operations management systems for container operations in Puerto Cabello, Venezuela. This announcement marks the first deployment of Tideworks' industry-leading terminal management solutions in Venezuela.
"We are pleased to have been chosen by ITS to help them efficiently manage every aspect of their container terminal operation," said Michael Schwank, president of Tideworks. "Deploying our comprehensive software suite will result in faster, more efficient cargo processing at this strategic port in Venezuela."
Included in the agreement are Tideworks' best-of-breed Mainsail Terminal Management System(R), Spinnaker Planning Management System(R), and the community web portal, Forecast(TM). The project implementation will be managed through Tideworks' regional offices in Colon, Panama. Implementation is scheduled for the second quarter of 2005.
"These new technologies will assist us as we continue our focus of increasing operating efficiencies to handle our growing container volume while enforcing strict security measures at Intershipping Terminal Services," said Esteban Szalay, managing director of the Intershipping Group. "We are pleased to be working with Tideworks on this project and to be the first port in Venezuela to implement the Tideworks product suite."
At approximately 3.5 hectares in size, the ITS terminal is extremely dense, handling a volume of over 100,000 TEUs in 2004. Although Szalay continues to look for opportunities to expand the facility, he recognizes that the advanced terminal management systems offered by Tideworks can help him reach maximum container throughput and maintain a competitive advantage. "We are very interested in increasing our terminal capacity. We can either do that through expansion, by stacking higher, or through increased efficiencies working with the space we have. We feel Tideworks is a very unique and positive step in that direction."
