British Airways World Cargo will increase its fuel surcharge on shipments from the United States to 20 cents a kilo, effective March 27.
The rate for shipments from the United Kingdom will be 12 pence per kilo.
BA attributed the increase to the continued rise in fuel prices, causing the fuel index to exceed the level 4 threshold for two consecutive weeks. BA said it created the index to provide customers with more information about the calculation of fuel surcharges.
The index also sets thresholds for additional increases if fuel prices continue to rise..
Other carriers that have recently increased the fuel surcharge include Untied Airlines.
