LONDON - Britain's Exel Logistics has signed four contracts worth $143 million in the U.S. health-care and consumer logistics markets. The warehouse and transport management deals with Unilever, Procter & Gamble, Energizer and Dentsply come less than a month after Exel acquired Detroit-based F.X. Coughlin, a supplier of logistics and forwarding services to the automotive industry, for as much as $331 million.
A five-year contract with Dentsply calls for Exel to consolidate four of the dental supplier's 18 hubs into one site by the end of 2001.Exel already handles Dentsply's European distribution from a facility in the Netherlands.Exel will oversee Unilever's warehouse and traffic management, pick-and-pack and inbound/outbound material flow from its Atlanta distribution hub for five years.
A three year deal with Energizer extends Exel's current warehousing operations at Atlanta and adds a new location in Los Angeles.
Exel's three year contract with Procter & Gamble involves warehouse and distribution projects at multiple hubs.
