INSURANCE CO.James S. Carey has been named president and chief executive of Admiral Insurance Co., a wholly owned excess and surplus lines subsidiary of Berkley. He succeeds John J. Kinsella.
Mr. Carey, 47, is currently chief operating officer of Coregis Insurance Co., a subsidiary of G.E. Capital Services Corp. He previously held management and underwriting positions with Fireman's Fund, Reliance Insurance Group and Cigna.
ERIE INSURANCE GROUP
Philip A. Garcia was appointed executive vice president and chief financial officer.
Mr. Garcia has been associated with subsidiary Erie Indemnity Co. since 1981. He was senior vice president and controller there.
He joined the company as a corporate accountant, was promoted to department manager of internal audit in 1984 and in 1988 became department manager of life accounting for Erie Family Life Insurance Co.
RISK CAPITAL HOLDINGS INC.
Charles N. Kasner was promoted to senior vice president and senior actuary of the reinsurance holding company. He had been vice president and managing actuary.
Mr. Kasner joined the company in Greenwich, Conn., in 1996. He had previously worked for Zurich Reinsurance Centre and with Frankona Re.
AON MANAGEMENT INSTITUTE
Anne M. Ritter was promoted to senior vice president from vice president at the company, a consulting and training arm of Aon Corp.
She is responsible for designing programs that help employers reduce their workers compensation costs. She joined the company from Asea Brown Boveri Inc., an international energy company where she was the risk manager for workers compensation.
SWISS REINSURANCE AMERICA
Rick Pagnani was named director of the professional services unit in the company's alternative risk transfer division.
He will be responsible for working with the New York-based reinsurer's branch offices and developing business with the financial institution and professional services industries. He was a senior vice president at Zurich Reinsurance Centre.
Swiss Re America also hired Michael W. Allan as business development manager for the northeast region, based in Philadelphia. He joined the company from Employers Reinsurance.
Finally, the reinsurer named Edouard H. Vieux Jr. as an account executive, responsible for treaty marketing in the company's Northeast region. He joined the company from General Re Corp.
Kristin Peterson joined as an account representative. RMIC, Winston-Salem, N.C., is a private mortgage insurer.
Ms. Peterson will be responsible for managing RMIC's Arizona territory.
