AMERICAN SHORT LINE RAILROAD ASSOCIATION (Washington) - Alice C. Saylor is the trade group's new vice president, general counsel and secretary, succeeding Thomas Dorsey, who retired.
Mrs. Saylor is senior general attorney and director of public affairs for Transtar Inc., the Monroeville, Pa., holding company that owns several short lines.BURLINGTON AIR EXPRESS (Irvine, Calif.) - Guillermo Gomez Arjona was named general manager for BAE's operations in Spain. He was general manager for Spain at Lep International.
Mark Carlson was named vice president of global quality. He was director of logistics for BAE in Atlanta.
CONSOLIDATED RAIL CORP. (Philadelphia) - Gerald T. Gates was elected vice president of mechanical. He succeeds John R. Nussrallah, who was appointed managing director of insourcing. Mr. Gates was assistant vice president for operations planning and administration.
RAILWAY LABOR EXECUTIVES ASSOCIATION (Washington) - Ronald P. McLaughlin, president of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, was re-elected chairman of the group, which includes leaders of major rail labor unions.
W.D. "Dan" Pickett, president of the Brotherhood of Railway Signalmen, was elected vice chairman, while Robert J. Irvin, who heads the American Train Dispatchers Association unit of BLE, was elected executive secretary- treasurer. Leroy Jones will continue as executive director. All will serve three-year terms.
