Neptune Orient Lines (NOL) and Nippon Yusen Kaisha Ltd. (NYK Line) are revamping Pacific shipping schedules to reduce transit times for two services.
Starting in June, the carriers, which operate five trans-Pacific services together, will shave more than a day off their "Singapore-California Express" and their "Far East Express."The move means the carriers will be able to offer a 16-day transit time
from Singapore to Los Angeles and a 12-day transit time from Hong Kong to Los Angeles. In addition, the carriers will be able to offer transit times to Los Angeles of 10 days from Keelung and of 11 days from Kaohsiung.
NOL and NYK also are beefing up their westbound service by adding Seattle as the last outbound call on their Singapore-California Express. This will enable them to offer a 10-day transit time between Seattle and Tokyo.
These schedule upgrades come in the wake of another service announcement by the carriers. They recently upgraded Suez Canal service between Asia and the U.S. East Coast to weekly frequency.
