Byron King Callan, a co-founder of the law firm of Cichanowicz, Callan & Kean, died Friday in Huntington, N.Y., at age 77. He had been ill with leukemia.
Mr. Callan, a resident of Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y., is survived by his wife Frances and four children: Margo Conte of New York; Katherine Callan of Hoboken, N.J.; Byron Callan of New York and Michael Callan of Huntington Station, N.Y. He also had three grandchildren.In World War II, Mr. Callan served in the U.S. Navy intelligence. He worked for U.S. Navigation Corp. and in 1960 formed his law firm that represents Evergreen Marine Corp., Yang Ming Line and various Japanese trading companies.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday at St. John's Church in Cold Spring Harbor at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Fordham University Law School, the Leukemia Society of America or the the Huntington Hospital Oncology Unit.
