SUN REFINING SELLS
NY STOP 'N GO STORESSun Refining and Marketing Co. said Thursday that the 27 New York Stop 'N Go stores it had offered for sale were purchased for an undisclosed amount by United Refining Co., Warren, Pa.
Closing is scheduled for Dec. 7.
In July, Sun offered for sale 200 of its 274 Stop 'N Go convenience stores located primarily in New York, Michigan and Ohio. The company expects to sell the remaining stores by year-end.
Sun markets gasoline in approximately 6,000 Sunoco stations in 23 states in the eastern half of the country. Sun also markets through more than 1,000 Atlantic service stations and A-plus mini-markets primarily located in Pennsylvania and New York.
NIAGARA MOHAWK SALES
ROSE IN THIRD QUARTER
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. said retail electric sales for the three months ended Sept. 30 increased 1.5 percent.
Sales to commercial customers rose 0.6 percent while industrial sales were up 3.8 percent. Sales to other electric systems were down 35.6 percent. Total electric sales increased 0.1 percent.
Natural gas sales, including transportation of customer-owned gas, increased 11.5 percent in the third quarter, the utility said.
Residential sales increased 0.3 percent, commercial sales decreased 6.7 percent, industrial sales declined 38 percent and transportation sales increased 27.7 percent during the quarter.
