Sea-Barge Group named Philip V. Bates senior vice president and chief operating officer of the tug and barge company. Mr. Bates led the Central American division of Concorde-Nopal Line and was the U.S. general manager of Navconsa Line.
Mr. Bates is a graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and spent the last 19 years in the steamship industry.Jorge A. Oria was appointed vice president of sales and marketing. He will be in charge of the company's sales and marketing efforts in the United States, including Puerto Rico. Mr. Oria relocated from South America where he worked for now-defunct United States Lines and another company.
* Wilfredo Garcia was appointed sales manager for the company. Mr. Garcia will be responsible for northbound cargo from Puerto Rico to the United States and for some local accounts in Miami.
* Victor Otero was appointed vice president of pricing, traffic and logistics. He was vice president of SeaXpress, providing service between Florida and the Bahamas.
* Jose M. Wolf as owner's representative in San Juan, Puerto Rico, for Sea-Barge. Mr. Wolf was owner's representative of Nexos Line.
