It appears that the central "technology" issue in the West Coast port labor dispute is simply a matter of the union ceasing to hold hostage manifest data, and eliminate a redundant function in the process. Maybe someone should clue the ILWU in that we are all in the supply chain and it is the responsibility of each entity to eliminate redundancy and promote efficiency. It is not "technological suicide" as I heard one longshoremen describe it. It is called "adding value," and it is what we all get paid for. Add value, or die.
