Kudos for Mention
Of DOT Unsung HeroI want to commend David Cawthorne for the mention of Gary Broemser in his column, July 28. Having worked with Gary for a number of years while he was at the Department of Transportation and sharing David's high regard for him, it is good to see one of the unsung heroes of deregulation get the appropriate credit even if posthumously.
Gary was really devoted to the cause of a less regulated system and led the analytical staff that developed the compelling case for reform. Without those analytical studies, the reform effort simply would not have been possible. It is always sad to see someone of such ability and promise die so young. Your words reminded all of us who knew him of the great loss which we have suffered.
