Toys were a $33 billion import business in calendar 2011 and were 1.5 percent of the $2.2 trillion U.S. import market. At $25.3 billion, 2011 toy imports from mainland China were 76.8 percent of all U.S. toy imports and 6.3 percent of overall U.S. imports from mainland China. While total U.S. toy imports were down 5.4 percent year-over-year, toys from mainland China were off 9 percent.
