Longistics Vice Chairman Pat Long Named a Finalist for Two Stevie Awards

Research Triangle Park, NC, December 09, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Longistics, a full-service provider of global logistics solutions (http://www.longistics.com), has announced that Vice Chairman Pat Long is a finalist for two Stevie Awards as Best Entrepreneur and Best Overall Company in the Service Businesses – Up to 2,500 Employees category. The Stevie Awards honor and generate public recognition of the achievements and positive contributions of organizations and business people worldwide. Its awards for Women in Business are governed by a Board of Distinguished Judges and Advisors that features many leading figures in business.

Long was among four international finalists for Best Entrepreneur in her category and six finalists for Best Overall Company. Along with her husband, Duane Long, she established Longistics in 1984, which has become one of the world’s leading companies in providing transportation, warehousing and Foreign Trade Zone management operations for businesses. Long became the founder and CEO of Rare Bird Trading Company in 2011, and in October celebrated the opening of the Suzhou Industrial Park International Commodities Exhibition Center in China, where North Carolina and U.S.-based companies will exhibit their products through support offered by Longistics and Rare Bird Trading Company. She serves as president of World Trade Properties, a real estate company developing the World Trade Park, where Longistics is headquartered, as well as vice president of finance for the North Carolina China Center (NCCC), where she works to expand the pace and involvement of North Carolina and its logistics and supply chain industries into the world marketplace. Long is a board member of the N.C. Logistics Task Force, a position appointed by Gov. Beverly Perdue, and an advisory board member of the UNC Global Research Institute.
