Portus Services Acquires St. Johns Shipping
Portus Services LLC, a private stevedore and terminal operator based in Jacksonville, FL is pleased to announce the acquisition of St. Johns Shipping in Port Everglades, FL. St. Johns Shipping is a private stevedore and terminal operator performing valued services within the Port. St. Johns has a long history in Port Everglades with a diverse customer mix that will enhance Portus’ growth into new markets.
Chris May, the VP of Portus, will oversee the new entity as it is integrated into Portus. Serving the loyal customers will be a priority as well as promoting the significant capabilities of Port Everglades to new customers. May commented, “With this acquisition Portus will continue to provide a viable stevedoring alternative in key markets that require a flexible, skilled and adaptive labor force.” Gus Maldonado will retire from his role as President although he will continue to have an association with the company via his shipping agency at Port Everglades.
