Jean Banker appointed to deputy executive director; Chris Chan tapped as director enginer

The Oakland Board of Port Commissioners promoted two employees who have been highly involved in expanding the port.

Jean Banker, who leads the port’s maritime strategic initiatives, was appointed as deputy executive director, and Chris Chan, who has been involved in various strategic engineering projects, was tapped as director engineer.

Banker was instrumental in completing the 50-year Ports America Outer Harbor terminal lease, renegotiating of the Evergreen terminal lease and launching capital planning for the $90 million shore-power plan for vessels.

Chan was involved in the $100 million Airport Roadway project at Oakland International Airport, the port’s harbor maintenance dredging and implementation of the port’s enterprise resource planning project.
