Long-time port executives John Wheeler and Tom Swinson resigned from the Georgia Ports Authority on Tuesday, the GPA confirmed.
Wheeler, the GPA’s senior director of trade development, and Swinson, general manager of commercial communications, are well-known industry figures who were part of the team that made the Port of Savannah the fastest-growing container port in the country over the last decade.
Wheeler has been a valuable source of information for JOC articles on the container trades. Swinson was a supporter of the JOC’s East Coast conferences in Savannah.
GPA spokesman Robert Morris declined comment on why the two executives resigned.
