The Port of Virginia reported container traffic was 169,390 20-foot-equivalent units in February, a 7.9 percent year-over-year increase.
It was the second-best February in the port’s history in terms of TEUs, said Rodney W. Oliver, the Virginia Port Authority’s interim executive director, in a written statement.
“Our rail containers were up 17 percent for the month and almost 14 percent for the calendar year,” he added.
Year-to date, the port’s container volume was up 5.4 percent year-over-year at 16,806 TEUs.
