A grant agreement between the Washington State Department of Commerce and the Port of Vancouver USA was finalized recently, securing $5.7 million from the state’s 2012 Jobs Now Act to develop 58 acres, or 550,000 square feet, of the port’s Centennial Industrial Park.
The money will be used to make infrastructure developments to support future manufacturing, production, warehouse and ancillary office space. The improvements are expected to generate about $100 million in private-sector investments and create as many as 500 new jobs.
With the port’s occupancy rate at 99 percent, development of the light industrial site will meet market demand, said Curtis Shuck, the port’s director of economic development and facilities.
