Container Volumes Soar at Port of Tacoma

Container volume through the Port of Tacoma jumped 34 percent in October year-over-year to 165,173 20-foot-equivalent units.

Loaded import containers soared nearly 68 percent in the month from a year earlier to 65,801 TEUs, and exports jumped 41 percent to 44,620 TEUs.

Year to date, loaded import containers rose 26 percent, and full exports grew nearly 17 percent, with overall volume up nearly 14 percent to 1.4 million TEUs.

Intermodal lifts grew 30 percent in the year to date, reflecting growing container volumes, the port said.
